Pros: Construction, range, zoom versatility, balance
Cons: Not the fastest lens
Review: I used to own the older 24-120 on my Nikon 35mms and decided to give this one a shot with my D70s. Took this lens out for about 3 weeks and works well as a travel lens - I also carried a Tamron 11-18 to compensate on the wide side (Using the 24-120 on a ...

Pros: Zoom range; vibration reduction; sharpness; VR compensates for not being f2.8; its Nikon
Cons: Prefer zoom ring in back vice front
Review: If there's a single lens that covers most needs, this one is it. It works on 35mm or digital cameras, acting like a 35-180mm zoom on the latter. Coupled with the Nikon 12-24mm zoom, I've shot about 90% of my photos with these two. It's 5-to-1 zoom ...

Pros: Fast AF response, very smooth and quiet operation, superb handling combined with excellent optics
Cons: none that seems to be out of ordinary
The Bottom Line: Clearly one of a kind lens in a world of 35mm photography, with superb handling, fast and quiet operation, combined with useful focal lengths and excellent optics.
Review: In 1996, Nikon introduced the AF-D Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D IF. It was the first of its kind to have such peculiar focal lengths with 5x-power zoom. It turned out to be a very attractive zoom lens, though, considering the shortest focal length offe ...

Pros: Great price for the advanced technology AFS, VR and ED.
Cons: AFS may not be as fast as you think.
The Bottom Line: Good value for the money. A great toy for amateurs.
Review: I had been waiting anxiously for this lens ever since it was announced by Nikon. I was all set to buy my sample when it was released in late spring last year. My enthusiasm was dampened by the initial reports of quality issues. Namely, soft images on ...

Pros: Image-stabilization is fast, quiet, and amazingly effective. 24mm is nice.
Cons: Wide open was too soft, considering price and ED elements. Susceptible to bleeding.
The Bottom Line: Good all-purpose lens, but softer at full aperture than I expected for ED lens.
Review: I used this lens on a D70 Nikon body. Vibration reduction is the best thing about this lens. It works very well, is quiet, and settles in quickly. I've also tried this lens' equivalent in the Canon universe - the Canon 28-135 IS lens, and the VR on ...

Pros: Sharp enough for casual use, versatile 24-120 range, can utilize a polarizing filter
Cons: Photographs have never been as nice as those taken with my 300mm 2.8 lens
The Bottom Line: Great for casual, everyday use for anything within the 24-120 range, no chromatic aberration, sharp (enough), accepts filters
Review: I have had this lens for about 4 years and do enjoy and plan to keep this lens. I have been somewhat satisfied with the landscape results for the time-being, since I only do landscapes about 20% of the time and do wildlife photography the rest of the ...

Pros: Very usable zoom range, VR
Cons: Slightly soft all around, quickly drops to f/5.6, color fringing and smearing at 24 mm
The Bottom Line: It may not be professional glass, but it is pretty good value for your money - unless you're craving absolute sharpness.
Review: First impressions I was looking for a light and unobtrusive walkaround lens for my D70 with a slightly more reach at the tele end than the kit lens (18-70 DX). My local camera shop had the 24-120 VR in store and it seemed to fit the bill ...

Pros: VR, build quality
Cons: softer than a marshmellow in a Starbucks hot chocolate
Review: I bought this as a replacement for the D40 kit lens (DX 18-55). The 'tests' I did at the shop looked promising.... However, after a few weeks with the lens I have yet to get a sharp picture. Sharpness is worse than the kit lens. Now, at this point ...
