Excellent budget lens

If you need a portrait lens (88mm with crop) and want to save money then this lens is a good choice.

Okay, so AF is somewhat louder and not really fast but this lens isn't for sport and bird photography anyway (for those you'll have to invest into a lens that costs about 15-20 times more).

Stopped down to f2.8 brings sharp results. Going for larger apertures usually gives a too narrow depth of field but if you want to (or have to) this lens goes down to 1.8 giving you lots of light and you're still going to receive good results (though bit softer and with less contrast).

Stopping down to f4 and f5.6 gives the sharpest results though in my opinion there is only a small improvement compared to f2.8 which is already excellent.

Build: yes, it's not great but if you want a cheap lens with good optics you have to save money somewhere else.
It's a completely plastic body but I don't think it's a real problem. It's really light-weight and small so the mount won't have any problems.

My only problem is that it's easy to grab the focus ring unintentionally which stops the AF a bit. No damage done yet though.
