As stated in another lens review on this site, and at the risk of being redundant, I'll be brief by saying I've been a professional photographer for over 30 years, and have been an optics tester, doing all the lens testing for a company in California. So I'm a stickler for image quality and... Read full review »

Pros High Quality, ease of operation, Excellent focus speed and great results.
Cons None found.

This was my first dive into a quality zoom lens for my new Digital Rebel. The reason for this purchase was for taking youth ice-hockey pictures in arenas that don't have the best of lighting. I was told by other hockey photo-bugs that I would definitely need an f2.8, like their Canon L series lens,... Read full review »

Pros Solid build, fantastic results.
Cons It's a big lens and it's heavy, can't think of anything else.
Recommended it? Yes

This is an absolutely gorgeous lens.

The whole lens feels very solid with it's metal construction. Despite this it's still slightly lighter than it's Canon equivalent, although this one isn't image stabilised.

The operation of the zoom and focus rings is spot one and the AF is... Read full review »

Pros Fast Silent Focus Superb Build Quality Apocromatic Lens Elements Wide Aperture
Cons None I can think of.

I have used this lens for a year now. I bought it because I could not afford a f/2.8 Canon lens and wanted something with that wide an aperture. After much study on the web and consulting other photographers I discovered this Sigma lens had roughly the same optical quality (slightly less) and speed... Read full review »

Sigma APO 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

One of the favorite lenses among news photographers, a 70-200mm f/2.8 or 80-200mm f/2.8 zoom also appeals to many serious photo enthusiasts. Although large and heavy, lenses of this type offer several benefits. Their very wide maximum aperture allows for faster shutter speeds than the more typical f/4.5-5.6 zooms, great for low-light or action photography at lower ISOs (film or digital) for images with less grain or noise.
